Nabeel Mohammed is planning to turn his 2016 disastrous final campaign into something positive in the Men’s Singles of the Bmobile National Open Tennis Championship at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua this time.

It was so close for him to claim the precious metal at the Nelson Mandela Park Courts in St Clair, yet so far away as Luke De Caires snatched it from his grasp, back then.

Yesterday, however, Mohammed made another step toward the title for another time, turning back a battling Javier Lewis 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the semi-final on court six. He joins number No 1 seed Akiel Duke who defeated Adam Ramkissoon 6-3, 6-2 only the day before, and fourth seed Vaughn Wilson who earned a final-four berth by virtue of clobbering Kristyan Valentine 6-0, 6-2 on Tuesday evening.

In the Men’s Doubles, the team of Ramkissoon and Keshan Moonasar progressed to the semifinal, courtesy of a convincing 6-2, 6-2 triumph over the pair of Che Andrews and Valentine on court one.

On court two the men’s veterans duo of Kendall Cuffy and Richard Mc Letchie was victorious over Dion Auguste and Rickey Villaroel 6-4, 6-4 in the veteran men’s doubles.
