Bishop’s Centenary ‘A’ rugger girls unbeaten
Bishop’s Centenary College ‘A’ made it four wins from as many matches in the 2018 Secondary School Girls Rugby League courtesy a hard fought 5-0 defeat Holy Name Convent (Port-of-Spain) ‘B’ at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, on Wednesday.
For the winners’ Jaliyah Dempster-Babb scored the lone try and with one match left in the preliminary round, Bishop’s Centenary ‘A’ girls assured of a top-two finish and certain of a semifinal spot with a 4-0 record.
In the two other matches contested, Holy Name Convent ‘A’ and Bishop Anstey High School scored wins.
Holy Name Convent ‘A’ got a try from Afifa Noel and conversion by Megan Joseph to beat Bishop’s Centenary ‘B’ 7-0 while Babi Oura and Keryce Baptiste scored a try apiece and Anna-Lee Luces, the conversion in Bishop Anstey’s 12-0 defeat of Providence Girls High School.
St James Government Secondary School won the title last year when becoming the fourth school to lift the title in six years, courtesy a 15-5 beating of Bishop Anstey ‘B’ 15-5 in the final.
However, due to a shortage of players, St James was forced to withdrew its team from the league for the 2018 edition, while some of its players who are available have been drafted in by some of the other schools.
