The Mayaro Carnival Committee needs to revamp its operations if it plans to attract patrons in the future. Speaking with the T&T Guardian at the village’s traditional Monday night  Mas celebrations, Bunny Lynch, Carnival committee member, said the venue at Plaisance was just short of being “horrible.”

Lynch said when celebrations were staged in the Mayaro Car Park on the Mayaro Junction a lot of people were attracted and participated. He said the move to Plaisance four years ago was a bad one since patrons would rather attend celebrations in Sangre Grande, Rio Claro and Port-of-Spain.

Lynch said the committee was also coupled with internal problems and personality issues that needed to be straightened out if Mayaro Carnival was to move forward. Lynch said the night mas was introduced to complement the daytime parade of bands.
