A taste of Euphoria

Tucked away in an upper Dundonald Street location, the Euphoria Lounge opened its doors last month.

Promising a different kind of entertainment experience, this is the club for people who don’t like going to clubs.

Arriving at the location, one goes up a narrow staircase, almost like the old-fashion speak-easy’s of yesteryear. But when you enter the front door, the decor is modern; art noveau.

There is a chain mail curtain surrounding a winding staircase, and bathroom with sliding doors with the symbol for boy and girl etched in the glass, respectively.

The bathroom features sinks that look like stainless steel mixing bowls.

The bar has everything a bar should, and occupies a corner of the dance floor. The deejay is suspended over the crowd in a little box, and a disco ball spins over everyone.

Passing the dance floor, there is an enclosed balcony lounge where one can look through glass at the street below—it almost feels like a civilised peep show and is quite a comfortable, intimate space.

This is the place where the urban professional, and the social recluse may meet.

On opening night, friends and media were invited to get a taste, with 3Canal, Nadie La Fond and Trinidadian, London-based chanteuse Z Star all in attendance.

3Canal livened up the wine-and-cheese-tasting crowd by performing Good Morning and Salt—two songs that get any room going.
