Three years ago First Impression Brash and Sassy brought the meaning of Christ back into Christmas in a pageant format. This year eight little lasses will compete for the coveted title of Little Miss Claxton Bay at the Plaisance Regional Complex, Plaisance Park on December 12. The pageant is entitled Fruits of the Spirit.Apart from pageantry skills, the girls will be required to emulate one of the biblical values, which they must portray during the production.

Pageant co-ordinator, Norma Bramble-Joseph, said the whole idea for the biblical pageant started two years ago. “We celebrate Christmas and some of us as adults don’t even understand the true meaning of the word.“We at Brash and Sassy decided that each year we would choose an aspect of the bible, and find the values it teaches, and how it can manifest through reading in each child’s life.

“They (the children) in turn remember their roles and the impact it would have had on them through the show. They even learn something that they never learnt before. “They learn to value themselves and others through the development of a spiritual foundation.“And in light of the all negative elements in our society, our children need a true foundation, to know the bible and to know the true meaning of Christmas,” Bramble-Joseph explained.

The girls have been assiduously preparing to incorporate all aspects of the competition with practices sessions, paying courtesy calls, learning pageant deportation, and attending photo shoots. This year’s contestants are Diamond John-Williams, Ashley Neptune, Tionne Atwell, Shivonne Nelson, Afiya Joseph, Aziza Mayers, Jeamessa Neptune, and Kayah Cooper.
